Conference Objectives

The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for presentation and exchange of academic research results, industrial experiences and innovative ideas within the field of Information systems, based on object-oriented technology.
The theme of the 9th conference is Information System Evolution.

Conference Theme

Information systems provide a representation of how bussiness and society are organized. However both bussiness and society are living organizations which chnage and evolve continuously. Every year new bussines models are introduced, new operation rules are establishes, new information becomes available, new technology appear, and new services need to be offered.

As a result today's novel information system risks to become obsolete in a very short time. Replacing it with a new one is not an option, since this will result in losses in time, money and productivity. A better sustainable solution is required.

The main theme of OOIS 2003 is thus the Evolution of Object Oriented Information Systems. The conference will target issues related to the evolution, adaptability, restructuring and flexibility of OOIS, aiming in replying questions like: what is IS evolution, how can we integrate new requirements or to modify them during the IS development process, how can we develop new basic systems which guarantee a better IS flexibility in view of the evolution needs, what are the problems and issues to be that need to be taken into account at the various IS levels in relation to the evolution needs,  how to design IS integrating new techniques (like mobile technologies, EJB, Web semantics, components...) and how to design new services that will provide the required functionalities.

The conference program will address technologies and methodolgies for building evolving OOIS, supporting the evolution of existing OOIS, as well as problems and issues related to OOIS evolution.
